Finally- "Yellow Face" Avatar Documentary Released!
16th-Jul-2010 12:12 am
I hope I wasn't the only one waiting for this to come out!

So many sad comments. Luckily, there are some people whose comments lifted me up (but are they enough?). Geez... the guy asking the interviewers what they're doing in America... ugh. And not to sound racist, but the black people who were okay with Jackson possibly donning yellowface? LOL @ at the guy who tried to defend the casting ("To their credit..."???), but then he became speechless when he saw the "Caucasian or any other ethnicity" casting sheets. Ugh, Mickey Rooney. I've never seen the actual clip until now. I've only heard about it. I feel as if I'm about to vomit. All of the other yellowface movie clips are just as bad. LOL @ the casting assistant trying to explain the situation. "Well, you see, what happened was..."

This would have been helpful 2 weeks ago when I was talking to pro-casters. I like the ending though; shows that The Last Airbender isn't the end and there's still a long road ahead of us.

Why specifically two weeks ago? Because of the movie's release date? This documentary would've actually been helpful at least an entire year ago, ha ha.

Though I disagree with the idea that The Last Airbender is using yellowface (but yellowface, and any other -face, is definitely a no-no). It's really racebending, since they're not using makeup to look Asian. It'd be really weird if the African Earth Kingdom citizens had makeup on like Eddie Murphy.

Well, before the movie's release date is what I meant. Momo is giving me the stink-eye and I'm kinda frightened.

LOLZ, Momo is for the whole yellowface thing, and the weirdness of black people in yellowface (not to sound racist, but Eddie just looked awful, as anyone -facing). How'd you debate with procasters before the release?

It wasn't really debate than just sassy comments. Kinda the story of my life.
